An immersive experience that transports visitors far back in time yet close in space, to relive the history of the Fortebracci family and discover the stories and places of their triumphs and tragedies.
The multimedia journey unfolds through four thematic rooms. The story is enriched by scenes taken from the evocative performances staged by the three districts during the Historical Reenactment of the Donation of the Holy Thorn, which help make the experience even more engaging. The first two rooms are entirely dedicated to the figure of Braccio da Montone, a condottiero and one of the most important personalities of his time. The narrative retraces the main stages of his extraordinary rise, focusing on two particularly significant moments: 1413, when he was proclaimed Lord of Montone, and 1416, the year of his victory over Perugia that made him its Lord. The story continues until 1424, when he was defeated at the Battle of L’Aquila and sustained serious injuries that led to his death. The other two rooms are dedicated to his son Carlo. Orphaned at just three years old, he was forced, together with his mother Nicolina da Varano, to leave Montone and take refuge in Città di Castello. Despite his young age, Carlo decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and, already in 1435, at just fourteen years old, began his first military experiences. For a long time, Carlo served the Most Serene Republic of Venice, which, in gratitude for his services, gifted him the relic of the Holy Thorn. The story concludes with a symbolic and dramatic event: the destruction of Braccio’s fortress in 1478.
