On the occasion of the reopening of MUMO, and with a view to cultural synergy among local institutions, the Burri Foundation has loaned the San Francesco Museum of Montone a splendid triptych from 1994, created using screen printing and gold leaf. This artwork fits naturally and elegantly into the Renaissance setting of the museum, evoking the shape of the archivolt, a recurring element in the ancient altarpieces on display. The horizontal line dividing the composition recalls the Umbrian horizon—a thin boundary between sky and earth—symbolizing a landscape that has always inspired both Burri and the great masters of the Renaissance.
Today Burri’s triptych engages in a dialogue with the works of Vittore Cirelli, the enigmatic pupil of Signorelli and a key figure in the artistic tradition of Montone, weaving an elegant comparison between past and present, between Renaissance art and contemporary research. The collaboration between the Museo San Francesco and the Burri Foundation embodies a virtuous cultural renewal, capable of enhancing the local historical heritage and projecting it toward a universal and timeless dimension.
